General Info
A saltwater fish that’s a cousin of Red Drum, this fish is between 5 and 30 lbs., known for it’s black and gray striped color, and possesses powerful teeth capable of crushing oysters. The Black Drum is a ‘bottom feeder’ and therefore not the best ‘eating’ (tasting) fish. It’s a hard fish to target and a strong fighter. Could be appropriate for anglers and experienced sport fishing. Found near estuaries and oyster beds in temperate and warmer Atlantic regions.
